10 Reps: Natalie Coughlin
Meet Natalie Coughlin. This girl is big time -->11-time Olympic medalist, "Dancing with the Stars" alum, Pantene ambassador, cook, Golden Bear, and one of my best friends, is here to tell us all about swimming, style, and even Sundays.
Lets get real, she has the whole "pushups with polish" thing down.
Q: What is one lesson sports have taught you?
Success doesn’t always come on the timeline that you demand. Challenges and obstacles arise. As difficult as those challenges and obstacles are, they make the successes that much sweeter. You need to experience “failure” to fully enjoy the success.
Q: What is your favorite part about the Bay area?
I was born and raised in the Bay Area. Within hours you can be at the beach, desert or the mountains. We’re spoiled with amazing food, natural beauty and temperate weather.
Q: How do you define success?
Staying true to yourself and succeeding within your moral compass.
Q: Do you have a favorite meal to cook?
I love cooking and spending time in the kitchen. My favorite dishes are constantly changing and evolving. I love healthy versions of comfort food. Vegetables soups are also a favorite.
Q: What is the best part about your Sunday, or your days off?!
Love hitting up the Farmers market and stocking up my fridge for the next week.
Q: Are there any sports you must watch?
Football! I’m a big Raiders fan.
Q: Can you share some of your “athletic” beauty/style tips?
Because I don’t where makeup when I compete, clean brows are a must! Also I use the Clarisonic brush with a gentle cleanser nightly to make sure that my skin looks its best.
Q: What is the best part about competing?
Representing my country on the world stage.
Q: As a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, how might dancing and swimming be similar?
Technique is very important in both, although I never have to worry about what types of faces I make when I swim!
Q: Competing since an early age, what is one piece of advice for younger athletes?
Decide what is successful for YOU. Don’t allow someone else to decide what successful means. Challenge yourself, work hard and most importantly, have fun.
thanks nat! love you!
