homemade {power} bar

The perfect bar. Not as simple as it sounds. It has taken me years to find bars that are jusssst right before a workout: not too filling, sweet, dense, etc. Besides that, most bars have more sugar than candy, are expensive, and just plain boring!

What's an athlete to do?

Make our own of course!

This literally took 5 minutes and required no baking! {very similar to a Lara Bar}

Supplies: Food processor, parchment paper, a pan/baking dish

Ingredients: 1 cup of dried cranberries (or fruit of your choice, my inspiration used chopped dates), 1.5 cups of chopped peanuts, 2 TBS unsweetened cocoa powder, pinch of salt (optional)

Steps: Place all ingredients in a food processor. blend. then blend some more until it becomes a paste. Line a loaf pan with parchment, and press the mixture into the pan. Remove from pan and slice into bars. Wrap bars in the parchment paper. Keep in fridge. Enjoy before workout!
