the perfect couple.

yum. yum. yum.

Move over William and Kate. Pita and Hummus are forever the perfect couple. It was so easy (and healthy) to make that I probably won't ever buy pre-packaged again (key word: probably.)

{whole wheat pita chips}

supplies: cooking brush, baking pan, oven

ingredients: 4 whole wheat pitas, 4 tbs olive oil, 1/2 tsp parsley, 1/2 tsp basil, 1/2 tsp basil, 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper, 1/4 tsp sea salt.

steps: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine olive oil, basil, parsley, and pepper. Brush oil mixture onto inside of pitas. Slice into wedges. Sprinkle with sea salt. Bake for about 8 minutes or until crispy. Serve with....

{hummus}

supplies: blender/food processor

ingredients: 2 cloves of garlic, 1 can garbanzo beans (half the liquid reserved), 4 tbs. lemon juice, 2 tbs. tahini, 1 tsp salt, black pepper to taste, 2 tbs olive oil.

steps: In a blender, chop the garlic. Pour garbanzo beans into blender, reserving about a tablespoon for garnish. Place lemon juice, tahini, and salt in blender. Blend until creamy and well mixed. Transfer the mixture to a medium serving bowl. Sprinkle with pepper and pour olive oil over the top. Garnish with reserved garbanzo beans.
